Frequently Asked Questions

I understand that seeking therapy can be a big step and you may have a lot of questions but rest assured, I’m here to answer them! Here are a few frequently asked questions but if you have more, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask!

Q: What if I’ve never been to therapy before? What can I expect?

You have come to the right place! I love working with clients that are new to therapy. I believe in authenticity and meeting you where you are. The only thing you have to do is show up as your true self and I will guide you through the rest. My goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment where you can come as you are and grow to become your best self. So take a deep breath and let’s get started!

Q: What is your therapeutic style?

Great question — this is very important! I will open this space for you to lead based on what you need in the moment. In the first few sessions, we will create a “treatment plan” together, where we establish goals and areas of focus, but remember, this space is for you. I will guide you in exploring what feels relevant and what will help you reach your goals.

Q: How often do I need to come to therapy?

It depends! Unfortunately, there’s not a clear answer for this one. We can talk about a recommended frequency at the first session, but it’s often most helpful for clients to schedule weekly at the beginning of working together. Once we have a clear path forward, we can determine and adjust the frequency of sessions. My goal is to help my clients utilize the tools and skills between sessions so that we reduce frequency over time.

Q: How do I know it’s a good fit?

A consultation call is the best way to determine if a therapist and client are a good fit for each other. In this call, you can ask any questions you have about the therapy process and the therapist can ask you questions about what you want to work through in therapy. After the call, you can determine if you would like to schedule a first session.

I offer a free 15 minute free consultation call with all new clients to discuss the details of working together. Additionally, the first session is considered a continuation of the consultation call and is another opportunity to explore the goodness of fit and your therapy goals. If at any time one of us feels like it’s not a good fit, I will help assist you with referring to another provider that may align better with you.
